Introduction to Vipassana Meditation
Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, an Art of Living. To those who are not familiar with Vipassana Meditation we recommend visiting the international Vipassana website for an introduction.

To Apply for a Course
To learn Vipassana Meditation one needs to develop one's own experience during a residential ten day course. To apply for a course and to understand the requirements, please read the Code of Discipline and then find a convenient date in the Course Schedule.

About Dhamma Niketana
Residential Vipassana courses in this tradition have been held in the Adelaide area since the mid 1980's in rented facilities. Initially they were held in Mylor and for several years now in Normanville, south of Adelaide. 10-day courses are now held at the TocH Camp, Victor Harbour (location map). Read more about Dhamma Niketana.

Public talks and open days
The Association holds open days at the Dhamma House, usually once or twice a year, where we screen introductory videos; you can ask questions and talk informally with experienced meditators. Meditators organise public talks and screenings of videos about this technique. Also we hold introductory talks/tours at the house on request, please contact the Association if you are interested.

Children's and Teenagers' Courses
We offer introductory one-day courses for children and teenagers, ages eight to fifteen. Anapana meditation, a simple non-sectarian technique based on awareness of the breath, is practised by the students, as are the five "promises" (moral precepts of non-killing, truthfulness, non-stealing, etc), with opportunities for games, readings, arts and crafts.

Children say that practising Anapana helps them make good choices, and rely on the safe, strong place they find within themselves. To apply, please print out the online pplication form or call or email for more information.
